Composer-singer Vishal Dadlani has reacted to Arijit Singh’s recent decision to step away from playback singing with a supportive message. Vishal said that Arijit should do whatever makes him happy, praising the popular singer’s musical talent. He encouraged Arijit to explore what he truly wants to pursue next.
Speaking on the Untriggered with AminJaz podcast, Vishal said, addressing Arijit, “Do what makes you happy, man. He has put out some kind of explanation on it. Jo bhi hai, tere dil ka hai, tu kar (Whatever it is, if it’s what your heart wants, go ahead and do it.) Music is an ocean that exists with or without any of us. So cheers! The guy, musically speaking, is a genius. There is no question. Explore, that is what life is for.”
When the host mentioned that focusing on independent music could also be a good decision, Vishal responded that he fully backs Arijit and respects whatever choice he makes.
“Guessing is not my game. As far as I am concerned, I am on his side. Whatever he wants to do is fine. I love that guy. He is a good guy. Genuine good human being. Good heart, good mind, great music! Do whatever you want,” he added.
Earlier in January, Arijit had surprised fans by announcing that he would no longer be taking up new assignments as a playback singer. In a post shared on Instagram, he thanked listeners for their support over the years and reflected on his journey in the industry.
He wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
While stepping away from playback singing, Arijit appears to be focusing more on independent music. He recently released the song, Raina, composed by Shekhar Ravjiani with lyrics written by Priya Saraiya.
