Regina police are calling for public assistance on an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in a vehicle earlier this month.

The man was identified as 56-year-old Michael Norman Ross in a Regina Police Service (RPS) news release on Thursday. He is a victim of homicide, according to police.

As of Thursday, two people face charges in relation to the case, but nobody has been charged as being directly responsible for his death.

In a Tuesday news release, RPS said a 37-year-old man faces charges of indignity to a body as well as accessory after the fact to murder. That RPS release notes he was arrested Monday night.

The indignity charge alleges the 37-year-old man loaded Ross’ body into a hockey bag and then into the trunk of a Chrysler 300. It alleges the body was driven “around the city.”

A 26-year-old man was previously charged with indignity to a human body, flight from a peace officer, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm when prohibited, and accessory after the fact to murder.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Jan. 19, officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Albert Street and Saskatchewan Drive, according to the RPS.

While the vehicle initially evaded police, a crew on board the RPS airplane located it a short time later on the 1400 block of Princess Street, in the city’s North Central neighbourhood, according to police.

By that time, all of the occupants were said to have fled the vehicle in which officers located Ross.

Further investigation led officers to a residence in the 3700 block of Dewdney Avenue, according to police.
