Devin Lloyd might have played his last snap with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, the Jaguars are unlikely to re-sign Lloyd or slap the franchise tag on him because of the high price both avenues will carry.
When it comes to the franchise tag for Lloyd, that is estimated to be $27.5 million, per DiRocco. In terms of a new deal, Spotrac projects Lloyd will land a contract in free agency that pays him $60.4 million over three seasons.
With Lloyd likely to be looking for a new home in 2026, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay predicts he’ll sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.
“While Lloyd still must prove he can perform at a high level consistently following some polarizing early seasons, he appears to have found his footing this past year and should be a great addition to a Buccaneers squad that sorely needs his skill set,” Kay wrote.
Lloyd is coming off his best season as a pro in which he showed he can do a little bit of everything really well. The former first-round pick posted elite Pro Football Focus grades in run defense, coverage and as a pass-rusher.
While Lloyd remains a gamble because of how he has struggled with consistency in his career, he would have a better chance to succeed in Tampa Bay under a good defensive-minded coach like Todd Bowles than in most places.
The Buccaneers need more help at linebacker, and that’s before mentioning the possibility that Lavonte David might not be back as he prepares to hit the open market.
Assuming he can continue playing at the kind of level he did in 2025, a versatile linebacker like Lloyd would be just what the doctor ordered for the Buccaneers’ defense.
