The second season of the French-Japanese wine drama “Drops of God” features a freediving scene in the first five minutes of the first episode.
The AppleTV show, starring Tomohisa Yamashita and Fleur Geffrier is set in the world of fine wines and gastronomy and was inspired by the New York Times bestselling Japanese manga series of the same name.

In the opening scene of the first episode, Yamashita’s character is training to dive to 15 meters/49 feet and suffers a blackout on his way back up. Yamashita himself trained to do the dive, telling the South China Morning Post:
“My teacher was a world champion and gave me lots of tips, because I didn’t have much time to practice. I appreciated that the production crew prepared the stunt guy, but I wanted to do it myself, as much as I could. I went deep.”
He said on the Upcoming Youtube channel about diving to 15 meters:
“That was kind of an intense experience, it helped me to build my character deeply.”
The first episode debuted on AppleTV this week. Check out the first five minutes of the episode below.
