A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed Friday night in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood, police said.

Montreal police were called shortly before 10 p.m. after a 911 call reported a man injured near the intersection of Victoria and Bourret Aves., according to Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the Montreal police.

Officers found the victim conscious and suffering from a wound caused by a sharp object to his lower body, she said.

“He was transported to a hospital for an injury that was not life-threatening,” Chèvrefils said.

No arrests had been made as of late Friday night, she said.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear.

Police established a perimeter around the scene to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to examine the area. A canine unit was also called in as part of the investigation, Chèvrefils added.

Police were expected to canvas the area for surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident.
