Pre-Order Icarus: Console Edition Now
GRIP Studios has announced that Icarus: Console Edition will launch on Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5 on 26 February. Alongside the release date, the publisher has opened pre-orders, giving console players an early incentive in the form of the Pet Companions Pack DLC, which adds a variety of domesticated, Earth-origin animals to accompany players across the planet’s hostile terrain.
Originally developed by Dean Hall (DayZ, Kitten Space Agency) and RocketWerkz, ICARUS is a first-person PvE survival experience that drops players onto the unforgiving alien world of Icarus. Playing solo or in teams of up to four, prospectors must brave extreme weather, aggressive wildlife, and deadly environmental hazards while racing against time to extract valuable resources and return safely.
Survival on Icarus goes beyond tools and weapons. Animal husbandry plays a crucial role in long-term success, allowing players to tame creatures brought from Earth during a failed terraforming attempt. Animals such as wolves and boars provide useful modifier buffs, including improved health regeneration and reduced oxygen consumption, making them valuable allies in the struggle to survive.
Players who pre-order the game receive the Pet Companions Pack DLC, which introduces 11 additional animals, including new cats, dogs, and horses. Each companion features its own leveling system, talent tree, and maintenance needs, adding another layer of strategy and care.
Icarus: Console Edition includes the full base game alongside the New Frontiers Expansion, which opens up the vast, non-terraformed region of Prometheus. This expansion adds 64 square kilometers of new terrain, three dangerous biomes, mutated apex predators, over 30 workshop items, and more than 100 craftable items. Six narrative-driven missions tie the experience together, uncovering dark secrets hidden across Icarus’ deadly surface.
