The discount will last for 24 months
Not to be outdone, Telus-owned Public Mobile is getting in on the flurry of winter deals.
Public launched a flash sale on Jan. 23, offering 50 per cent off its plans until Jan. 26. Here are the deals:
- $20/60GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $40)
- $25/80GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $50)
- $30/100GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $60)
Per the fine print on Public’s website, the deal is only available to new online activations — sorry existing customers, you’re out of luck on this one.
Moreover, the 50 per cent discount applies to plans for 24 months. On one hand, 50 per cent off for two years is pretty solid. On the other, it’s a bit of a bummer the discount doesn’t last longer.
It’s also worth noting that if customers change plans, they’ll lose the 50 per cent discount.
Overall, though, this is a really solid deal and well worth picking up. A $20/60GB plan is practically unheard of in Canada, especially with North American roaming and 5G.
Public’s sale comes amid several ongoing deals from various providers. It started with Virgin Plus and Fido launching $49/60GB CAN/US/MEX plans. Then Koodo rolled out a $50/60GB CAN/US/MEX plan alongside several discounts on other plans. Finally, Freedom Mobile upped the ante by adding 10B of bonus data to its $39/60GB CAN/US/MEX plan.
